Zoom's new live transcription feature provides automatic machine captioning for your Zoom meetings. The accuracy of Zoom’s live transcription feature depends on many variables, such as but not limited to:
- Background noise
- Volume and clarity of the speaker’s voice
- Speaker's proficiency with the English language
- Lexicons and dialects specific to a geography or community
The live transcription feature can be enabled by using the Live Transcript button that appears in the bottom ribbon of your meeting. This will appear for any meeting that you are the host of. To enable the live captions so they are viewable to your participants, click Live Transcript, then Enable Auto-Transcription. This will need to be done in each individual meeting.
Once you have enabled live transcription for the meeting, participants will see captions appear at the bottom of their screen. Participants can click View Full Transcript to see the entire transcript on the right side of the window. They can also click Subtitle Settings to change the font and size of the captions. Only Hosts can enable and disable captions in the meeting.
If you want participants to be able to save a copy of the transcript of your meetings, you can enable the Save Captions toggle switch in your Personal Settings. This is located in the In Meeting (Advanced) section of your Personal Settings in the utah.zoom.us web portal.
