Q: Is ProctorU a secure product?
A: YES. Refer to this online document for more information. ProctorU Security
Q: Do I or my students have to pay for ProctorU review+ exams?
A: NO. The University of Utah is paying for high stakes midterms and/or final exams that are administered as part of the Covid-19 response.
Q: For identity verification, can a student use a student ID in lieu of a driver’s license or passport?
A: YES, actually a student ID is the preferred form of ID.
Q: Do students have to be completely alone during the exam?
A: YES. Your students must be isolated in a room with no interruptions or noises that may trigger a red flag incident.
Q: Can the student take an exam in a private room of a library or office?
A: YES, in special circumstances a student may test in a private room of a library or office as long as the student is the only person in the room and has adequate internet connectivity. However, we strongly discouraged testing in public spaces.
Q: Does ProctorU reivew+ use Canvas quiz access codes?
A: NO, ProctorU review+ creates its own auto generated password that overrides the quiz access code.
NOTE: It is NOT necessary to distribute the access code produced by ProctorU to your students. ProctorU will automatically fill in the access code when the student enters the proctored exam.
Q: Why does ProctorU reveiw+ tell me I have connection issues when my computer shows full connectivity?
A: An instructor or student’s connection may indeed be at full strength, but their maximum bandwidth capability may not meet ProctorU review+ minimum requirements.
Q: Will students still get to use a previously scheduled ProctorU live+ session?
A: NO, All previously scheduled ProctorU live+ sessions have been cancelled. There is not need to reschedule another or new session. The exam will be monitored automatically through ProctorU review+ when the Canvas exam begins.
Q: How will I schedule a new session with ProctorU review+?
A: ProctorU review+ DOES NOT require a scheduled session. The exam is recorded when students enter the Canvas exam. Exam availability is determined by the teacher in the Canvas quiz edit details view.
Q: How do I get a refund for my cancelled session?
A: All pre-scheduled ProctorU live+ sessions that have been paid for up front will be reimbursed through our connective service, SmarterServices. These inquiries should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org Students need to provide all course, exam and personal details necessary to expedite the reimbursement process. (i.e. Date you scheduled your exam; your uNID@utah.edu; your course title: MATH 1010-090; the exam name: Exam 4)
Q: Why do my students need to have a webcam?
A: ProctorU review+ provides a secured exam service through the capture of video, audio and screen activity of the student while testing. A webcam is required in order to meet this requirement.
Q: What if a student can’t secure a webcam?
A: You may have to look at alternative ways to administer your exam.
Q: What are my options to administer my exam?
A: The university supports the options of an open book format directly through Canvas or a secured option through ProctorU review+.
Q: Can I use proctored exam services other than ProctorU review+?
A: YES. You may use any proctored exam service you choose at your own discretion and expense.
Q: My students have privacy concerns regarding the use of a webcam?
A: ProctorU review+ uses artificial intelligence (AI) software to constantly monitor and record student behaviors throughout the test. It is designed to tag suspicious activities such as lighting changes, unusual noises and movement by the student and to catch any unapproved screen activity. When a recording is complete, a ProctorU professional reviews these tags and files an incident report if necessary. These reports along with the video recording of the student’s test are deposited in the Canvas course/ProctorU dashboard for the teacher to review.
