The UofU Learning Experience Design Cards (LXD Cards) is a deck of cards that was developed to help faculty and course developers discover active learning approaches that align with their course goals. The LXD Cards are intended to help design courses that engage, captivate, and delight students. The wealth of learning activities aligned with different types of learning will inspire your creativity and engagement in your teaching as well as make course design a less draining but more fun experience.
The 52-card deck includes three categories of cards:
- 5 Goal Cards
- 7 Type of Learning Cards
- 40 Activity Cards

Note: A PDF Version 1 (same content with different design) of the card deck can be downloaded below. Cards can be printed on any printer capable of two-sided prints. For best results, print on a color laser printer and use a heavier weight of paper (e.g., cover stock).
