Teaching & Learning Technologies offer a full suite of video production services ideal for creating professional-quality online modules, interviews, promotional videos and other presentation projects. Project content can be recorded in our green screen studio or on-location with mobile professional lighting. TLT also provides editing and post-production services, including arranging for closed captioning. Visit our Video Production Services page to view the full list of our projects.
Step 1: Scheduling
TLT requires pre-scheduling for all video recordings in order to ensure the available of equipment and staff. In order to maximize facility availability, the studio is available for six blocks per business day. They are as followed:
8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
While exceptions will be made in rare circumstances, we will encourage the scheduling of the shoot during one of these time periods. Same week filming requests will only be accommodated if staffing is available as determined by the project supervisor.
The ability to conduct field shoots will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on resources and logistics.
Step 2: Project Expectations and Completion Time
A project timeline will be determined by the project supervisor based off of clients’ needs, project complexity, and available resources at the time of project acceptance. In order to determine the project timeline, the project supervisor will be asking for the following information:
- Does the project needed to be completed by a specific date?
- How many minutes or hours of completed content are you anticipating?
- Is there a specific style of video you are wishing to complete? (See TLT Video Production Services for examples)
- What is the earmarked budget for the project?
- What type of branding/ graphics/ animation will need to be generated for the video?
- How will the final project be delivered?
A project estimate and terms will be generated based off of the supplied answers.
Step 3: No-Shows & Cancellations
TLT reserves the right to charge up to the full value of a job order for no-shows and for cancellations taking place less than 24 hours before the start time of a scheduled shoot. No-shows and cancellation fees cover total work time leading up to the no-show or cancellation.
Step 4: Price List
Below is a base price listing for recording services and includes a single camera operator to film, one camera, a tripod, and basic file management and organization. Prices are subject to vary depending on recording needs, contact our Video Project Services for more detailed information on charges and to obtain an estimate of costs for your project.
|Course Studio Video Recording||$25/hr|
|Non-Course Studio Video Recording||$40/hr|
|Course Field-Production Video Recording||$20/hr|

Step 5: Payment
TLT does require a University of Utah chartfield in order to start a video recording or service. A journal entry will be generated using this information and our video work will be charged to it. Your chartfield will not be charged until work is complete and delivered.
Note: TLT accepted University purchasing card payments, however, you will still need to enter a chartfield to submit your request. If you are planning on paying by card, please call 801-581-6744 to give your card information after you have submitted your request. When submitting payment information, please reference the Zendesk ticket number that you receive in your confirmation email.
