How do I upload a video file to Canvas?

To upload a video file into Canvas follow the steps outlined below:

NOTE: Just because you have uploaded a video into Canvas does not mean it is visible to students. To make a video visible, it must be embedded into your course content. To learn how to do this visit this article: How do I embed a video in Canvas? 

Follow the steps below to upload a videco file to Canvas:

1. Open My Media
2. Select My Media from the Course Navigation.
3. Select Add New
4. Select Media Upload
5. Click Media Upload from the drop-down menu and select a video from your computer files to upload.
6. Edit Media Information
   • The name field of the file is required, it will autofill with the original file name but you can edit this. The Description field and Tag field are optional.
7. Select Save

Note: You can also access your My Media in Canvas by clicking the Account link in the Global Navigation, select the Profile link and a My Media link will be listed.
